Artist
Gerald L. Leavell II is a past ICA Teen Convening participating Educator, Teen Convening Artist in Residence, and Artist Encounter/Visiting Educator. He is a nomadic artist and writer, community educator, and arts-integration specialist. He writes: My work is rooted in self-reflection, history, and making connections across communities and cultures. I create narratives based in writings, happenings, performative gestures, two- and three-dimensional works, and multi-media (education-based) projects. For this, I draw from my heritage, education, and unique upbringing, which was split between city and country life in Texas, then traveling – living in the world. Rare words, distant cultures, collective intellect attract my attention.”
