The Artist’s Voice: Sheila Hicks
The Artist’s Voice: Sheila Hicks, October 2, 2014.
Pioneering artist Sheila Hicks, featured in Fiber: Sculpture 1960–present, is celebrated for blurring the boundaries between art, craft, and design. After studying with Josef Albers at Yale, she developed an interest in fiber while on a Fulbright in Chile; she later established workshops there and in Mexico and South Africa. In 2010 she was the subject of a major retrospective organized by the Addison Gallery of American Art. She joins Jenelle Porter, ICA Mannion Family Senior Curator, in a lively conversation about her art, influences, and all things fiber.
